PLAQUEMINE, La. (WAFB) - Power should be restored to residents in the city of Plaquemine before 4 p.m., according to city officials.

Officials said Entergy restored power to the Plaquemine substation just before 3:30 p.m., and it will take the city’s electrical crew up to 30 minutes to get power back up throughout the entire city.

They said anyone who does not have power by then should call 225-687-3725 before 5 p.m. or call 225-687-4796 after 5 p.m.

The outage was caused by a cross-arm breaking off the transmission line pole near Enterprise Blvd., which resulted in other damage to Entergy’s transmission line that feeds electrical power to the Plaquemine electrical system, according to officials.

Plaquemine Mayor Ed Reeves issued an update on the power outage just before 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

PLAQUEMINE, La. (WAFB) - An Entergy transmission line feeding power to the City of Plaquemine failed Tuesday afternoon, January 24, leading to a power outage across the city, officials said.

Plaquemine Fire Chief Darren Ramirez said early Tuesday evening that city utility crews have teamed up with crews from Entergy to make the necessary repairs to restore power.

The City of Plaquemine has been notified by Entergy that power is not expected to be restored to the Plaquemine electrical customers until about noon Wednesday, Jan. 25. The company is mobilizing heavy equipment needed to make the repairs, but that mobilization and the repairs will take time.

The transmission line is located off of Enterprise Boulevard.

Interim Plaquemine Police Chief Robbie Johnson said additional police officers have been put on patrol due the outage.
